I am Professor of Mathematical Physics in the School of Mathematical and Physical Sciences at the University of Sheffield.
I am a member of the Lancaster-Sheffield Consortium for Fundamental Physics whose research is supported by the Science and Technology Facilities Council.

My research interests lie in classical general relativity and quantum field theory in curved space-time. I am particularly interested in black holes.

Together with Xavier Calmet (University of Sussex) and Bernard Carr (Queen Mary, University of London), I wrote the book "Quantum Black Holes", published by Springer in 2014.
